Western Force prop Matt Dunning will miss his side's tour of South Africa with a foot injury and is expected to spend a month recovering on the sidelines.
The former Wallaby incurred the damage during Saturday's draw against the Blues in Perth, with scans revealing a tendon injury.
Coach Richard Graham said while the injury was unfortunate, it will not deter his side's pursuit of their first win of the season.
"(Dunning's) first start of the season against the Blues showed what type of impact he can have in the game," Graham told The West Australian.
"Up against an All Blacks opponent his effort was first class and while we'll miss his experience we have a number of up and coming players ready to take on the challenge of playing in the front row.
"We'll wait and see how Matt responds (to treatment) and reassess after we return from South Africa but are hopeful to have him back again in around four weeks."
Meanwhile, Australia sevens player Brian Sefanaia has signed a short-term deal with the injury-plagued Force, and will be drafted into their squad for the games against the Lions and Stormers.
"I watched Brian play a lot last year at Manly and (defence coach) Phil Blake has a good understanding of his capability," added Graham.
"Brian has a solid background in the game and is someone who will add depth to the backs."
