In the recent Australia v Wales international there has been an introdution of several adverts which are not on the pitch. They appear 0n some shots and not on others.
Also I am pretty sure that fire flares at the end of the pitch which seem to come from within the spectators are also digitally manufactured.
Is this the start of something to be concerned about. Views would be appreciated

why would anyone be concerned? do you have an example?

my understanding is part of the drive towards digital advertising around the ground is so they have tailor the adds to the market broadening income stream, also better for the pitch not to have adds painted on them

@Harrythecat i had a quick look at one of the tries and didn;t see anything, when did you see anything concerning?

It happened throughout the match. Adverts that appear on the pitch are not on the pitch. They are digitally generated. The flares that appear at the end of the pitch when a conversion is made by Australia are also digitally generated. They appear to come out of the crowd which would be dangerous and could never happen. Please have a closer look. Thanks for your comment

@Harrythecat i guess firstly....whats the concern?

secondly....ive looked and nothing showing on the coverage in Aus so maybe a local addition, which would make sense as thats one of the benefits, and digital marketing on the pitch has been common for many years

Thanks for your help. I am concrned about any kind of Fake additions. Some more than others. I must admit I have not noticed digital marking before. That maybe because of it's increase of use. For me it spoils watching the rugby. Why don't we sit and watch adverts instead of spoiling it by holding a rugby match, Thanks for you help here. Much appreciated

I've noticed this previously and in cricket too. Don't really like it but it's been done well enough to not be a huge problem.

Keith Wood's head turning blue was probably a pivotal day in this.

...but what exactly is concerning? and what makes it different to painting the advertising on the pitch?

my understanding it is a very useful tool in making rugby more financially sustainable, different adds for different markets brings more sponsors into the game, being able to easily change whats painted allows for grounds to be used for different teams/sports
