Danny Care Called into 30 Man England Training Squad

ENGLAND TRAINING SQUAD RBS 6 NATIONS 2008, SCOTLAND v ENGLAND - MARCH 8TH

England Head Coach Brian Ashton has made one addition to the England training squad that will prepare for the RBS 6 Nations match against Scotland next week.

Harlequins scrum-half Danny Care joins a 30 man England squad that will meet in Bath on Sunday evening.

Representative Honours England U16, England U18, England U19 Sevens Commonwealth Youth Games Australia 2004, England 7's (2005/06 Wellington & LA, Commonwealth Games silver medal 2006/07 Sevens Series - HK, Adelaide, Lon, Edi, 2007/08 Wellington, England U19 (2005/06 Six Nations and IRB U19 World Championship 2006, England U21 (2006 U21 World Championship), England U20 (2007 Six Nations), England Saxons (2008 v ItR).

International Record: Uncapped.

Danny Care was a member of last year's England Sevens core squad and also an important figure in the England U21 squad that took part in the 2006 U21 World Championships. He also helped England U19s to a third place finish - their best ever - in the IRB World Championship in Dubai in April 2006, having flown out to Durban for the same tournament the year before, but missed out through injury.

The following year Danny led England U20s in all five of the 2007 U21 Six Nations games to secure a third place overall finish.

His first rugby success was with his school when they Year 8 Yorkshire Cup winners and after his rugby career he would like to coach. Previuously with Otley RFC, he also played football for Sheffield Wednesday Academy for three years. His rugby heroes are Matt Dawson and Jonah Lomu. He likes playing tennis and snooker in his spare time and his most prized possessions are his England caps.

Danny transferred from Leeds Carnegie to Harlequins at the start of the 2006/07 season.

Considering it was just Wigglesworth and Hodgeson and considering England's injury woes, you seriously can't be too careful. I'd pick every scrum-half in England if I could.

Well he has been playing Scrum Half for Quins most of the season and displaced Gommerasall, so surely it is a good thing to give this lad some international exposure, it will only help him in his game...

I watched him play last weekend and he was one of the best players, if not the best, against Sarries?

This lad is one for the future so I hope people realise this, but likewise he is the breath of fresh air that English Rugby needs... I could see a good partnership with Cipriani...
