Clermont extended their home unbeaten streak to 45 last weekend with a 13-12 win over Racing-Métro, which is the nearest any side has come to beating them at the Stade Marcel Michelin over the past 45 matches.

The last time Clermont lost at home was on the 21st of November 2009, when Biarritz scored a last minute try to win 16-13.

Next five matches Clermont need to win to reach the landmark of 50 home games unbeaten:

22/9 - Grenoble
29/9 - Stade Français
13/10 - Scarlets
27/10 - Biarritz
9/11 - Toulon

Do you think they will get to 50 home matches unbeaten?

Also note that if you were to include pre season matches, Clermont are 49 matches unbeaten at home.

I reckon they can do it it's an absolutely incredible achievement as it is. Is this the most games any team has won at home on a streak ever?

NO!!

no i think it was Stade Francais under Galthie and that was i think 59 matches so Clermont still have a fair way to go but i would not put money against them doing it they are ultra strong at home with a superb home crowd behind them, excellent place to watch rugby even if you lose like we did last season, but we beat them at home this season a couple of weeks ago 13-8 but it was tough.

I hope their game against Leinster in the Heineken Cup is the one they're going for 50 on the bounce in. Given the history these clubs have shared over the last 3 or 4 seasons, it'd be a fitting clash to try and achieve the milestone in.

Yes, if Clermont would have to go until the end of the season to beat that 2004-2008 record of Stade Français.

If Clermont were to maintain their home record up to that point, then that would be them going for 51 on the bounce.

Still officially a home match I think if you want to be technically correct you have to say at the Stade Marcel Michelin.

False.

Clermont beat Grenoble 46-20 last weekend. The unbeaten home streak now stands at 46.

Next week Stade Français, who have travelled very poorly so far this season. Not even got a losing bonus point away from from home.

Matches to win to reach 50 home matches unbeaten:
47 - 28/9 - Stade Français
48 - 13/10 - Scarlets
49 - 27/10 - Biarritz
50 - 9/11 - Toulon

Toulon are undoubtedly the hardest challenge on that list.

Turk pack is going to end that streak...
Well, there certainly will be streaks with regards to the Turk forwards.

Clermont down 13-22 to Stade Français early in the second half.

28-25 final to Clermont.
80 minute drop goal for James.
Stade must be gutted, but have shown Clermont are beatable at home.

Sounds like a thriller.

Stade Français picked a weakened side for this match as well, not expecting to get anything from it.

Clermont are winning games but haven't hit top gear this season, and have looked a lot more beatable at home than in the previous two seasons. They also only just beat Racing-Métro 13-12 earlier on this season at home, and this looks even closer.

Interesting to hear Brock James got a last minute drop goal. I wonder whether that will lay to bed some ghosts from his Leinster nightmare match he had in 2010.

I don't think the Scarlets will end the home streak, but Toulon will be a big danger to it, they were also the nearest to beating Clermont at home last season.

That's the thing with James, you never know which one is going to show up. He showed no fear stepping up for the field goal; Clinical and swift. I only caught the second half, but Stade scored three tries in the first half to Clermont's one (no tries in the second half).

The Turks shouldn't pose a problem (granted, we all said that before the went to Northampton). Clermont have a better set of forwards and backs. Priestland is more of a choker than James.
