Vern Cotter is leaving Clermont at the end of the season after 8 years in charge to coach Scotland with Scott Johnson. And despite Robbie Deans (who Cotter used to be assistant coach to at the Crusaders) being strongly rumoured to takeover. Clermont have decided not to go with a big name coach and have promoted their backs coach Franck Azema (who succeeded Joe Schmidt in 2010) who will work as a duo alongside new appointment the Leinster forwards coach Jono Gibbes.

After Leinster nicked the Clermont assistant coach in Schmidt, now Clermont have returned the favour in nicking Gibbes, who may possibly have been disappointed not to get the main Leinster job and wanted to get a main role.

I've got major respect Jono Gibbes. Clermont are on a winner there.

Great move for Gibbes who has done an exceptional job with Leinster's pack. I do question whether he's head coaching material yet though.
