Chiefs back liners Sitiveni Sivivatu, Lelia Masaga and Brendon Leonard are all said to be progressing well as they prepare for their Super 14 derby clash against the Hurricanes.

The Chiefs flew back to New Zealand on Monday evening after their three match trip to South Africa where they won two out of three and kept them at the top end of the table.

The Chiefs are in second place but have to play the team above them the Hurricanes this weekend and the Chiefs' management are hopeful the likes of Sivivatu, Masaga and Leonard will be fit for the hugely-anticipated clash.

Sivivatu has been sidelined since dislocating his shoulder against the Reds six weeks ago and initially the Chiefs were optimistic the All Black star might only be out for up to two weeks but the dislocation proved to be more severe than first expected.

Sivivatu missed the South African tour to work on his fitness. Another Chief in Masaga was also ruled out of the tour after he suffered an ankle injury in the round eight in over the Lions.

The impressive wing was making huge strides in terms of pushing for a test call-up before being injured.

Brendon Leonard suffered a sternum injury in the Chiefs' first match on tour when they beat the Cheetahs in Kimberley. He returned to New Zealand in order to work on regain his fitness for the Chiefs' play-off campaign if they get that far (and they should).

A Chiefs injury update stated: "All three players are progressing well and will continue to be further assessed throughout this week.

"More information on their status is likely to be available later in the week."
Initially there were fears Leonard could be ruled out of the Super 14 but that now seems unlikely.[/b]

Will be a very big boost for the Chiefs if these three player are fit and ready, with or without them this will still be one helluva game!
