Blues sign West for two years

I dont think this has anything to do with Barrett they would have signed west anyway regardless of the situation with Barrett. Hes proven he is worthy of pushing the likes of Nokes And Kerr out of the squad at the very least.

Barrett is THE form 10 in NZ and probably has not had the success he should have at super level with a Canes squad that stutters a bit and maybe has the weakest pack 5 in. NZ bet your house JK still wants him and would take him in a heartbeat if he could and he surely has some cash to spare with Benji making room.

West is someone the blues can build with. But JK would surely kill for an established proven All Black 10.

But west is the next best thing, because he is basically the next big thing.

That is good news for the Blues. West certainly has a few rough edge, but he could develop into a top class Super Rugby 10. He does need to learn how to tackle though, as that is his biggest weakness at the moment....

It was more a case that West would probably have looked at signing for the Hurricanes himself if Barrett had decided to head north.
