Read about this earlier, really terrible news. Hope it all gets treated successfully.

Horrible news, best of luck to the man
Also very unlucky profession to be involved in, cancer certainly wouldn't be my first thought when in pain after a rugby match.

I didn't even know you could get bone cancer, can it still spread to other 'organs'?
Might be a little blonde when typing, but I assume it's not a case of simply removing of removing the cancerous bones? (The article I read said it was one of his ribs)

Oh man, that's terrible news.
I hope they've caught it early and that he gets a speedy recovery!

If it is primary bone cancer (that actually started in bone - rare) and not secondary bone cancer (which started somewhere else and spread to his bones - more common) then it is treatable by removing any growths and the corresponding affected sections bone. However, even if the treatment is successful, it is unlikely that he will ever be able to play rugby again at any level, because the bones become susceptible to cracking and breaking with relatively minor injuries. Such injuries could also trigger another growth.

Really gutted for the bloke, never like to see this in rugby, hopefully he can make a full recovery and return for the Blues in the near future.

Terrible news. I'm sure he'll get tons of support throughout NZ during the process of treatment and recovery.

Very sad news, hopefully he gets better and returns to the game.

Great to see the Blues camp getting in behind him. It was awesome for Pat Lam to say that in a situation like this rugby comes second for the guys around him.

:( Regards to Haiu and his family + freinds, I know how this must be devestating. :(

No idea who the bloke is but all the best to him, not nice to hear that anybody has cancer, hopefully he can overcome it!
