Leicester fly-half Sam Vesty looks set to follow Tigers team-mate Lewis Moody in signing for Bath.
The 28-year-old England international is out of contract at the end of the season, and has he found opportunities at Welford Road limited by injuries and the form of Jeremy Staunton and Toby Flood.
And with Leicester head coach Richard Cockerill looking to trim his wage bill for next season, Vesty looks to have been squeezed out.
Vesty had been strongly linked to a move across the Channel to the Top 14, but he now looks set to team up with Moody at the Rec.
Fellow England international Moody announced last month he would be making the switch to Leicester's bitter rivals on a three-year deal.
Vesty has made 164 appearances for the Tigers during a 13-year association at the club, winning the Heineken Cup and Guinness Premiership ***les.

hope its not as a replacement for James

Vesty form has dipped massively in past season so unless he rediscovers that it a poor signing.

To be fair, he's barely had any chances and he's been injured for a lot of it. There's a reason he toured with England in the summer, he can play if he has players like James, Barkley and Claassens around him. Good replacement for Little and/or Davis.

To be kept out of team by Jeremy Staunton, Look I know he on form but still I don't think Vesty is any better than current crop.
He might add something different and an extra boot but that it

Judging by last season, i'm happy to have him on board. Would trust him over Little or Davis in any situation. As a squad player, it's a very astute signing.

Well possibly that is where he'll be handy when rest are away on international duty but then again Bath ain't producing much to English set-up

Another thing i disagree with you on,

in the last year:

Barnes, Bell, Wilson, Flatman, Mears, Barkley, Hape and Banahan have been involved in the EPS squads

with Short, Hooper and Abendanon also in the saxons.

As well as Matt Stevens and Michael Lipman before their, um, issues.

Next season, we've got Moody, Vesty and Biggs coming in, all of whom have been capped for England at some level.

Let's be realistic here: Bell, Mears, Barkley, Hape, Banahan, Hooper and Abenhanon aren't anywhere near good enough for test rugby though. They only get callups because of the club they play for - Bath own the bleedin' RFU.

Moody will get call ups.

Vesty will never get a call up.

Biggs will only play sevens.

If only Bell was 10 years younger. He's still a terrific player but admittedly, a bit old to be considered. He's good enough definately.
There's no way we're going to have another debate about Banahan and Mears - too many times already.
Barkley is better than any inside centre England have tried in the last 3 years, honestly. That's not just because i support Bath, he is a gifted player. Abendanon is quality too, just needs to be more consistent over the winter.

Hape, Vesty, Hooper and Biggs, you've got a point.

They all in EPS squad but sure they'll never miss International weekends as they aren't good enough.

That like saying Munster and Leinster will be missing their first choice 16/17 players as all get called in to the training squads but that is just to fill numbers.

And Hape isn't good enough for England yet there just alot of hype over fact he a league convert.
