Looked like the scrumhalfs neck was going to snap
Fair enough if he wanted to clear the guy out, but don't hold by the neck, continue driving him backwards, then snap it downwards

When are they going to turn around to Bakkies and say "Mate, just f**k off from Rugby, we don't want you here anymore"
He's cited more than Cudmore and Grewcock put together

Hope the twat gets banned for a year. PdV will have no choice but to partner Victor Matfield with Bekker.

The funny thing is how he goes on one knee and prays beforehand. That is the part that ticks me off.

He should get a nice long ban with his track record. Flip and Danie are better players in any case so the Bulls don't lose out.

Also for the Bulls it would be better. Van der Merwe is a more promising lock than Bakkies

Argh!!!

While it is great that he got cited for yet another one of his 'legitimate' clear-outs, the knock-on effect is that we now get to hear how biased citing commissioners are against SA players

An interesting article poined out something, well, interesting
All of these citings for clearing out have been against smaller (much smaller) opposition

Good for the Bulls I suppose, terrible for the French club who just signed him, lol

The headlock was the only part that seemed dodgy ? although I think Botha is a Dick I am not 100% that this is a terrible offence , it looked more something that was awkward than malicious..but then again emphasis on the looked with this guys track record

well the way he grabbed his neck with one arm and hitched his other arm under the guys leg so his weight came down on the bent neck IMO Botha should be up for assult. That could have caused serious injury. This guy is personally putting the game into disrepute. How many Mums are going to want their sons playing Rugby when this sort of thing goes on? The guy needs the book thrown at him because the few weeks rest he gets given every year doesn't seem to be working.

Also to me it looked like he came around the ruck rather than through it.

The way I see it:
First he cleared out,
Then in the process he grabbed the guy round the neck
When the guy was cleared out he kept on driving for no reason
When he started to fall he purposefully fell on the guys head/neck yanking them down at an awkward angle

He could've hit the guy and that was that, but he kept on driving through with the guys head wrapped up

The leg hitch thing is a commonly used technique however ? I really don't know about how malicious this was at all although he is a thug I doubt he would make any attempt using a grapple or a hold to injure or perhaps kill an opponent :/

Looked again and it does look a bit dodgy ....still think he was just being a dick attempting to sort of make a ball of the player or something as opposed to killing him :/

Typical cowardly behaviour from Botha which has come to be expected. Has he ever stood up to another player or does he always hide behind cheep shots and blindside attacks?

Looking back at it its fairly similar to that of the clearout of Adam Jones in the Lions test, but in that instance he did not wrap his arm round Jones's neck.

Hahahaha. For me as a Dutch guy, no problems there with pronounce ;)

Dee (as in Deer, but without the R) Waldt (Vaal -duh-t) (Dee-vin-haa-ggggg-uh) Sortoff. :p
