Andy Powell Soap Opera

Couldnt agree more its doing my head in as well. The guy is clearly not committed to the Blues,so its best he moves on and either another player is signed or some of the youngsters or squad players are brought through.I thought he was very poor for the Blues last season and for Wales.

Think he would've made a decent League prop, but seems as if that book is closed with his agent saying he's def. not heading to Crusaders.

Wonder if he'll be linked to a Rebels move anytime soon...

I think he will move to the Crusaders but after the Rugby World Cup.

Powell still Super League target after Crusaders blank

Wales rugby union back-row Andy Powell could still end up a Super League player next season despite the collapse of his cross-code move to Crusaders.
The 28-year-old was expected to join former Cardiff Blues team-mate Gareth Thomas at the Wrexham-based club.
But Powell's agent, Emanuel Palladino, confirmed: "Andy Powell will not be joining the Crusaders next season."
However, it is understood that other Super League clubs are still interested along with French union side Agen.
Crusaders had hoped to make Powell their big-name recruit for next season but have as yet announced no new signings for 2011.
It is a situation which is unlikely to alleviate fears over the expansion club's financial wellbeing, having been sold to Wrexham-based businessman Geoff Moss last December and subsequently relocated to north Wales from Bridgend.
Powell's future is likely to be resolved within the next fortnight, with at least one other Super League side having opened talks.
Thomas made a headline move to join the Crusaders last March and Powell remains good friends with the former British and Irish Lions captain, and has been up to the Racecourse Ground to watch him play.
"Andy is a close friend of Gareth Thomas as everyone knows, and also a big fan of rugby league, however there has never been any official offer made for Andy from the Crusaders despite the rumours circulating in the media," Palladino added.
"This is not to say that one day Andy will not fulfil his ambition of playing rugby league."
Powell, a tourist with the Lions to South Africa last year, was dropped by Wales after being charged with drink-driving in charge of a golf buggy.
However, the 14-cap player was recalled by Wales coach Warren Gatland for June's one-off Test against world champions South Africa in Cardiff and the subsequent two-Test New Zealand tour, only to be sidelined after suffering a thigh muscle injury in training.
Powell has a year remaining on his regional contract, although the Blues are currently well served in the back-row after New Zealander Xavier Rush opted not to move to Magners League rivals Ulster.

Will hardly be a great loss to Cardiff or a great acquisition to whoever signs him for league. One of those players who was given it all without ever deserving it.

I would imagine he'd play in a similar mould to what Crabtree does for Huddersfeild

Prop or loose forward, i reckon.
Probably make a better prop than 13, he's good at running into people, and not much else :p

You need to be a ball handling forward to play at 13 really. Where does he play in union?

Blindside flanker/8, he's got power and likes to bosh it up the middle, but never really seen him run with the ball

I think he would play prop, he has little or no handling skills to be fair to him and likes a good old bosh.

he must have some handling skills to be an international back rower

He sounds like he might make a good second rower to me. If he's fit enough he can get out wide and take on the centres.

(this is a totally different scenario to your positions, union fans)

Wonder if he'll still get called up for Wales from there,
Also, they implied in the article he's moved there because he wants to play 8 and can't at Blues or with Wales, but does he think he'll steal the spot from Dan Ward-Smith?
and then at flank they've got Worsely and Betsen and Rees. I reckon he'll struggle to get game time, tbh
