Still not even sure they do. Apparently a suspect has to be named within 15 years, which is May 3rd this year, for a prosecution to occur. Authorities deny the deadline has an impact and that the decision is based on evidence, but it is certainly convenient.

Simple fact is that the Portuguese authorities botched the crime scene at the time and so made it almost impossible to be used as evidence.

The McCanns though have to take some blame as they left a ground floor patio door open. I don't care if it is victim blaming, you know there are bad people in the world, so don't take the risk with your children just to make it more convenient to have a drink.

Also may be controversial but too much time and money has been wasted on this. Children go missing almost every day and get no where near the police time, resources and money spent. It's only because it's so high profile and attracted huge media attention.
