[2025 TRC] Australia v Argentina - 6/9/2025

I don't think you guys would understand the level of outrage Argentinians have right now with Paul Williams. 99% of the journos, 100% of podcasters/youtubers/etc and 100% of the fans are calling it a robbery.

When you ask for specifics, 99% of the people cant name a single play and the other 1% gives you an example of a 50/50 call that went Aus's way. When you ask 'well, why did we put ourselves in that 50/50 position?' you are called an anti-Argentine. Not kidding. This is bananas. Collective lunacy, deranged stuff.

They tend to use Carreras' YC as an example "he didn't give a warning, etc'. What they conveniently forget to mention was that in Aus' previous try we committed 5, let me say it again, FIVE OFF SIDES IN THE SAME PLAY. The play ended up being a try for Aus so, although Williams could have still issued a YC, he didn't. And of course the next time we have to defend from the in goal he's going to YC us at the first offense. This is not rocket science. And yes, he could have warned us, and he didn't. Cry me a ******* river. Tough bloody luck. At this level we should have been smart enough to figure that one out by ourselves.

I am furious. Livid. Few things **** me off more than stupid people and intellectual dishonesty, and this has both in spades. Thank god, THANK GOD i stopped watching Argentine commentary long ago.

I need to double check, but i'm pretty sure there is more at stake for us (Arg vs Aus) than for them. Sounds silly, i know. Allow me to explain: Arg and Aus are both fighting for the 6th spot on WR's ranking. Remember the cut off for the next world cup is after November's window. 6th spot gets to be in band 1.
The hosts automatically get #1 seed... But fair point Argentina can still hope to gain enough rankings points (RP) to get into the top 5 non-hosts. (and thus #2 - #6 seeds and band 1)

It won't be easy, there's a long way to go and not much time to get there.
Need to gain 4 or 5 RP from 5 games: Aus, RSA, RSA (neutral ground), Wales, Scotland, England - by my reckoning Argentina need to win 4 of them.
If you can pull that off, you'll really deserve to be one of the favourites!

Great comeback story for Australia, This whole championship is shaping up to be very competitive - wouldn't be surprised if everyone is 2 for 2 after round 4
