Bring on the easy points

Yup. I just hope there aren't too many 'Canes players being rested for the sake of my fantasy comp as my opponent has a plethora of angry Brumbies she is going to unleash on the poor Cheetahs (she has Tomane, Kuridrani and Lealiifano) and I'm hoping my Hurricanes players (Front row, Ardie Savea, James Marshal and TJ Perenara- I had NMS as well) counter that.

Hurricanes by 72 vs 20.

The sad thing is SA has the players to fill 6 teams- at least 6 quality packs- but they are playing in Europe. The other sad thing is the Eastern Province does have a deep rugby history, a world class stadium and an urban population capable of packing that stadium (unlike the Cheetahs) but for politics, corruption, politics and more politics.

Southern Kings
15 Jurgen Visser, 14 Luzuko Vulindlu, 13 Stefan Watermeyer, 12 Shane Gates (vice-captain), 11 Malcolm Jaer, 10 Louis Fouche, 8 Jacques Engelbrecht, 7 Stefan Willemse, 6 CJ Velleman, 5 JC Astle, 4 Steven Sykes (captain), 3 Jacobie Adriaanse, 2 Edgar Marutlulle, 1 Sti Sithole
Substitutes: 16 Martin Bezuidenhoudt, 17 Justin Ackerman, 18 Tom Botha, 19 Schalk Oelofse, 20 Chris Cloete, 21 Kevin Luiters, 22 Elgar Watts, 23 JP Du Plessis

The Kings will lose every game this year. SARU chose a coach who is nowhere near qualified. But that's how it goes nowadays.

I don't know, they have shown some glimpses of magic so far. I think they will win at least one game. Maybe against the Sunwolves?

The Kings also have the down-turn of a horrible fixtures list; they have three tough teams to cope with home and away in the Lions, Sharks and Jaguares. Then they get 1 shot at each of the teams in the other SA conference with the Cheetahs and Sunwolves their only realistic chance but only the Sunwolves are at PE. I don't see them winning in Bloem. Then they don't get a shot at any Aussie teams. Poor Kings. Last time out they actually faired quite well against Aus teams. A quick Google search tells me they beat the Rebels and Force and drew with the Brumbies and only lost 1 against Aussie teams.

Hurricanes

15 James Marshall, 14 Cory Jane, 13 Willis Halaholo, 12 Ngani Laumape, 11 Jason Woodward, 10 Beauden Barrett, 9 TJ Perenara, 8 Blade Thomson, 7 Ardie Savea, 6 Vaea Fifita, 5 Mark Abbott, 4 Michael Fatialofa, 3 Jeff Toomaga-Allen, 2 Dane Coles (captain), 1 Chris Eves
Substitutes: 16 Ricky Riccitelli, 17 Loni Uhila, 18 Ben May, 19 Geoff Cridge, 20 Callum Gibbins, 21 Te Toiroa Tahuriorangi, 22 Vince Aso, 23 Matt Proctor

Savea has been rested

Funny decision to rest Julian now. I'd have thought this would be the perect game to get his juices flowing. Maybe Boyd is thinking this 'snub' (if one can call it that) might do the trick rather. I mean its probably not as if Savea's exclusion should change the expected outcome here.

The Kings are like having the bye in the previous seasons, when you were awarded 5 points without lifting a finger.

Good to finally see Halaholo getting a start, should've been that way since the start of the season, I have absolutely no idea why Vince Aso has been considered ahead of him. Expecting him to do some major damage this game.

It is honestly amazing how bad of a commentator Justin Marshall really is. Kings doing surprisingly well.

Love me some Sumo however!

Bulls missing Fouche yet? He's been impressive.

Ref missed huge knock-on from TJ. Kings haven't left their own 22 as a result for the past 7 minutes.

I didn't understand the call giving the Hurricanes the ball at the scrum after they grounded it short of the line as it was not held up and the ball became unplayable after the Hurricanes player held onto the ball (thinking he crossed the line). Very surprised with the score, expected a big loss for the kings but either they are playing very well away or the hurricanes has been really bad.

...that was an ugly win for the Canes..not very convincing at all against wooden spooners
Perenara 's distribution skills leave a lot to be desired...Barret's late try went some of the way to redeeming himself from a lacklustre performance lacking leadership

Marutulle was the best player on the park

The Kings got three wins that season and a draw away against the Brumbies. Just saying.

Anyway I fully expect the Kings to lose every match this season (they might pull off a win or two against weaker opposition) but the Lions lost every single game of their first season and look at them now. Despite the ****ty politics and talent drain in the Eastern Cape it may come right in the long term.

At least a couple players this season have seemed pretty decent i.e. Cloete, Gates, Luiters and Marutlulle.

Different team 3 years ago, hey actually recorded a win vs the Highlanders in South Africa as well.

Not saying they're completely useless, but they're close. Hopefully they can build of this season and having contracted with the SARU instead of the franchise they can begin to build and stabilize from there. They have the foundations to become a decent addition, perhaps a few other signings from other franchise might solidify them and work towards making them competitive.

Barrett development or lack there of is pretty concerning. I have no idea how this guy hasnt improved his game one ounce in number of seasons he's been around.

He still cant tactically kick for **** and He still cant be relied on to direct the team around the field.

Did anyone see that kick that he made in his own half like straight out sideways like no attempt to befuddle the opposition and make more ground or anything.

This game is proof of where the canes are at. Realistically they should of put 70+ on this Kings team. the 42 points they did get flattered them a great deal.

I agree about Barrett, his lack of development if of concern. This is really his year to step into Carters boots, we'll see come Internationals time, but I think tactically and technically Sopoaga is far superior.

On the Canes, I disagree it shows us where they're at. They would have gone into this game naturally relaxed and mentally already had it won in their heads, even as professionals with plenty of preparation it's always hard to completely rid your subconscious of that feeling, especially when you go 19-3 up early and the Kings on the other hand would have gone in being hungry and looking to improve their season so we get the performances that occurred.

I think Barrett will be an impact player for the ABs forever. Cruden or Sopoaga are going into Carters boots

About the game, the Canes defense must to improve. 2 tries from the Kings is a concern
