If the odds are good I might have to drop some money on the Reds this week.

The Chiefs always do poorly against Australian teams (especially on Oz soil).

Chiefs: Tom Marshall, Bryce Heem, Charlie Ngatai, Andrew Horrell, Tim Nanai-Williams, Marty McKenzie, Augustine Pulu, Michael Leitch, Sam Cane, Liam Messam (captain), Brodie Retallick, Michael FitzGerald, Siate Tokolahi, Hika Elliot, Mitchell Graham. Reserves: Quentin MacDonald, Pauliasi Manu, Jarrod Firth, Matt Symons, Maama Vaipulu, Brad Weber, Damian McKenzie, Anton Lienert-Brown.

Reds: James O'Connor, Chris Feauai-Sautia, Karmichael Hunt, Samu Kerevi, Lachie Turner, Quade Cooper, Will Genia, Jake Schatz, Liam Gill, Adam Thomson, James Horwill, Rob Simmons, Greg Holmes, James Hanson, James Slipper (captain). Reserves: Saia Fainga'a, Pettowa Paraka, Sam Talakai, Ed O'Donoghue, Beau Robinson, Hendrik Tui, Nick Frisby, Ben Tapuai, Jake McIntyre (one to be omitted).

Good to see Messam, marshall, TNW And Retalick back. But lose Tamiafuna to injury! Chiefs can't get a break... The injury list is staggering.

but I cant help but feel with the chiefs desperately needing to win this game that Weber and Damian McKenzie would have been the better bet starting in the halves.

Still no SBW but I think Horrell is a good option.

I hope the Chiefs bounce back but the Reds are a banana skin. they have shown vast improvement since Connolly came on board.

Haha I didn't make the bet in the end - didn't even check the odds. The commentators did say that the Chiefs have lost 9 of their last 11 matches in Australia though.

I was a but suprised by how poor the Reds were on attack.

Chiefs second string tight five is soo rubbish its not even funny....

Even I was surprised at the dominance of Pulu over Genia in this match. But we got to face facts Genia is so bad he's heading overseas before he gets so bad he cant even get a contract.....

Still no SBW..... what a waste of time that guys been for the Chiefs this time.

he was as good as ever before he was injured, injuries happen. I dont remember it exactly of hand but the statistics for the chiefs winning %age with and without SBW are staggering, shows how influential he is. Solid defense 100+ running meters and a bag of offloads is pretty much guaranteed when he takes the field.

Chiefs are currently 2nd on the overall table far behind the canes. They would have been challenging the canes for 1st if they had not lose SBW & Retalick to injury. They have lost others as well but these two have been by far the biggest loss.

poor lineout and scrum from the chiefs they won this game from being far superior on defense, winning the contact and rucks and being much more creative & effective on attack.

lastly, quietly and without much recognition Messam has had an epic season, his tackling and workrate on defense and physicality in contact has been huge. This game his running and passing game was just as good. Constantly drawing in 2-3 defenders and getting a pass away, running great lines. Probably be best loose forward in NZ right now. Other contenders being Ardie Savea, Sam Cane then Tufua & Elliot Dixon.
