2011 RWC- Pool B

Am I wrong in saying that there is another thread that discusses the general future of Welsh rugby?

Sorry if I come across as a moaning twat

Good point. makes a change from the thread turnign into a discussion about Irish rugby though :p

I'll make sure to keep on topic from now on.

I wouldn't say they've been written off, merely that alot of people (including myself) would have Scotland ahead of them. Just out of curiosity, what does everyone make of Alan Jacobsen? I read somewhere that he's rated by the Sctoland management as being on par with Benn Robinson as the best loosie in the world. He's a man who's been living in the shadow of Euan Murray for quite some time now but the front row is a unit, not just a collection of individuals and everyone plays their part. Opinions?

I think he is a good player but he is not the worlds best, no chance of that. Italians could say Mirco Bergamasco is the worlds best winger but would not find many believers. The example of Jacobson is much the same. In terms of our discussion, Jacobson is not flash against Los Pumas. He seems to get really frustrated and outplayed. This can be seen in the following video when he punches Martín Scelzo repeatedly in a maul and gets penalized for it. Another ref would have given him a yellow card. I think he is a good player but Murray is of course, superior. Ayerza is better than Jacobson and Murray. The worry for Scots is that he is usually on the bench as Scelzo and Roncero continue to maintain their spots.

For me to say Scotland are likely to defeat Argentina I need to see tries. They have much better backs than those from Rugby World Cup 2007 or 2003 yet are not scoring tries. The Lamonts and Evans brothers (well only one now) really should be left to run loose. Argentina lost twice this year, thats true. I have given my contribution as to why this happenend. But Argentina, defeated them at Murrayfield in November with these players all playing. Argentina had a makeshift backline with a set of players at 10, 11, 12, 14 and 15 who all replaced injured players. So, even without the star Argentine backs, Scotland couldn´t score tries.

In other Pumas news, another is signing right now to play in France. Scrum-half, Agustín Figuerola will join Brive and it will be official on Monday. You heard it first here!
