[2017 RBS Six Nations] Round 3: Scotland vs Wales (25/02/2017)

Agreed, why not, what's he got to lose now the 6N ***le is all but gone? I was upset after the England game but just downright CROSS after this one. How often do we massacre good opportunities? Scotland were worthy winners (congratulations) but that doesn't mean Wales couldn't have won it...

[2017 RBS Six Nations] Round 2: Wales vs England (11/02/2017)

Great game which exemplified how cruel sport can be. I think Wales blew it, ultimately. A couple of knock-ons here, a couple of forward passes there...and they should have kicked their penalties in the first half (I'm sure teams like NZ would have). England have that winning mentality now and...

[2017 RBS Six Nations] Round 1: Italy vs. Wales (05/02/2017)

If a scoreline of 33-7 was offered before this game I think most fans would have taken it, especially when some thought Italy might win. I actually think Italy might pull off a shock win at some point, they did look dangerous at some points and, who knows, might improve in the next few weeks...

[2017 RBS Six Nations] Round 1: Italy vs. Wales (05/02/2017)

For what it's worth, this would be pretty much my starting pick too. Would just be tempted to give G Davies a start over Webb, seeing as the latter is not long back from injury. Hoping the likes of S Davies get a good run out too.

    [2017 Six Nations] - Wales

I'm thinking Wales are more likely to go with tried and tested players in this 6N. If it was a "Blues at Home" year, maybe there'd be more experimentation; but whilst Italy should be winnable, Scotland will fancy their chances at Murrayfield and France...well, who knows. So I'd be surprised to...

[November Tests 2016 EOYT] Wales vs. South Africa (26/11/2016)

Bit late to this but anyway...... Not the worst game ever but, although I was dubious about their supposed lack of quality, after a bright start SA were pretty dismal. It does of course leave us wondering what next for Wales. Firstly, 3 wins out of 4 is fine. It was important to win, first...

[November Tests 2016 EOYT] Wales vs. South Africa (26/11/2016)

Seems questionable to swap Liam and 1/2p again, but I can't say I'm too disappointed with the selection. It's a strong physical side but with plenty of guile at 7, 12 etc. At least Lydiate's a natural 6, and I don't have a problem with Moriarty starting at 8, he deserves it. Pretty good...

[November Tests 2016 EOYT] Wales vs. South Africa (26/11/2016)

    Adventurous 6-15:- 6. Warburton 7. Tipuric 8. Faletau / Moriarty 9. G Davies 10. S Davies 11. North 12. S Williams 13. J Davies 14. 1/2 p 15. L Williams Less adventurous (and more likely?) 6-15:- 6. Lydiate 7. Warburton 8. Faletau / Moriarty 9. G Davies 10. Biggar 11. North 12...

[November Tests 2016 EOYT] Wales vs. South Africa (26/11/2016)

The most frustrating thing for me was the lack of quick ball from Gareth Davies in the 2nd half. That simply has to change against SA. Maybe if Cuthbert had held on to that pass in the first half things might have turned out rather differently (for him, the team and the scoreline) but, as hard...

[November Tests 2016 EOYT] Wales vs. Japan (19/11/2016)

Maybe they'll be tempted to start more of a regular side, hopefully build a good lead and then bring on the likes of Giles earlier then they ordinarily would? Thought Nicky Smith did well when he came on, so would be happy if he starts. Keep the 6-7-8 combo intact at least until Faletau...

[November Tests 2016 EOYT] Wales vs. Argentina (12/11/2016)

This is true. Biggar and North need to both come good, and sharpish. Quite a good blend of physical prowess and guile in Saturday's XV, though, hope it pays off.

[November Tests 2016 EOYT] Wales vs. Argentina (12/11/2016)

It's harsh on Sam Davies but, in terms of the other dropped players, maybe it's a useful message to send - one bad game and you might face the chop, esp. if the competition is there. Lydiate and Cuthbert are probably two good examples of players who, when on form, are great to have, but at the...

As long as his kicking accuracy improves! ;)

[November Tests 2016 EOYT] Wales vs. Argentina (12/11/2016)

Yeah, Tips has to stay at 7 and I think Warbs would provide some much-needed intensity at 6. Moriarty should keep his place as he was probably the best Welsh player v Aus. Lydiate seemed as out of sorts as anyone - he seems to have been below par for a while now, and teams worked out his...

[November Tests 2016 EOYT] Wales vs. Australia (05/11/2016)

I thought Tom James was treated harshly in the 6N, especially after his brilliant try-saving tackle against Ireland. Yes, he didn't quite make that length-of-field chance against the Scots, but not many would over that distance. Continuity can be as important as bringing in new faces sometimes...

[November Tests 2016 EOYT] Wales vs. Australia (05/11/2016)

I'm happy with that. Guess it's a solid, if unspectacular, selection, but that's hardly a surprise given the injuries. Rankings are the chief concern so results, rather than innovation, are what matters most in these AIs. Great to see the new caps on the bench but wouldn't have been fair to...

[2016 Rugby Championship] Australia v New Zealand (20/08/2016)

Honest question: seeing as Foley looks a pale imitation of the brilliant 10 at the RWC, would it be worth giving Quade a go? Bit of unpredictability etc....? [ducks for cover]

June International Test: New Zealand vs. Wales [3rd Test] (25/06/2016)

I'd like to see that, but I'm told he had a poor game against the Chiefs and is still looking short of full fitness after his knee injury. Has to be given a serious run-out in the Autumn tests though. Otherwise it's a decent 15/23 in view of the injuries we've had. Open play has been great...

June International Test: New Zealand vs. Wales [2nd Test] (18/06/2016)

Pretty pleased with the overall Welsh performance, they kept on going and deserved the two late tries. The ABs are just ridiculously good, give them a sniff and it's game over. Mixed feelings about the centres though: as big a fan as I am of the two starters, I do think Scott Williams should...

    England V Wales - 29th May

This is very true. Hopefully the likes of Rhys Webb and Scott Williams, both sorely missed recently, will make a big difference to the attacking side of things. They both bring something a little different to the table.
