[2015 RWC] Final: New Zealand vs. Australia (31/10/2015)

Awesome ABs - untouchable. Second half really interesting. That scrum destruction at 50 mins was terrifying, and yet it marked the comeback for Aus. At that point I thought the ABs would show their true greatness by scoring tries every way possible - first phase off scrum, rolling maul...

    What now for NH rugby?

Explainz wotz uz meanz. True statement. I hope you're subsidising their social services after nicking their best. No? Didn't think so.

    What now for NH rugby?

But NZ is full of foreign players, from the Pacific Islands - the supreme benefit of having an empire: you attract the best people and adopt them. Not good for the islands, but what they gonna do? - - - Updated - - - The SH has been dominant since the 1950s, AND they've added another team...

[2015 RWC] Quarter Final 3: Ireland vs. Argentina (18/10/2015)

I did exactly the same thing in 2007 on this forum and got my arse kicked. Not this time. That's a good analysis of Ireland's weakness, but I think the Pumas play a better game anyway - some deeper flaw in the Irish way.

[2015 RWC] Quarter Final 3: Ireland vs. Argentina (18/10/2015)

Maybe, but it doesn't account for SA v Wales/Japan. Still, the 6N is exposed as an inferior product, yet it keeps bringing in the bucks. Arg v Ire + NZ v France have been two of the best RWC grudge matches over the years - but that's all over now. Pumas were fantastic, their first twenty...

Officiating of RWC needs to be questioned.

Nah, interpretation is a fact of life. Rugby has a lot of moving parts, and the refs explain their decisions. Fine by me. Interesting that the TMO is being used less as the tournament gets more intense.

[2015 RWC] Quarter Final 2: New Zealand vs. France (17/10/2015)

Agree with the analysis, not the conclusion - the ABs will not go wide early, because it risks SA's wings nicking a score or two before the Boks power up in the second half. And poor is a harsh description of Wales - just weakened so they couldn't put out their full game.

Officiating of RWC needs to be questioned.

I don't buy the inconsistency argument at all - there is a margin of interpretation in the laws, and it's part of the game. But there was so much whistling at the breakdown in SA v Wales that I wonder why the yellow card wasn't used. Chaos.

[2015 RWC] Quarter Final 2: New Zealand vs. France (17/10/2015)

I watched the crowd-pleasing clown show of Eng v France in the last 6N and thought, That's not rugby. And I was right. Glad both teams went down in flames, because now they get to rise from the ashes. Interesting to see the ABs go wide from the get-go against France, but they won't try that...

[2015 RWC] Quarter Final 2: New Zealand vs. France (17/10/2015)

Don't want to overestimate the ABs, but I can't see a weakness. Maybe not so hot in the rolling maul. And the authorities should investigate their exclusive patent on one-handed slip passes from brick-****house forwards. Apart from that ... all their nine tries came from forward passes...

[2015 RWC] Quarter Final 1: South Africa vs. Wales (17/10/2015)

I only saw one forward passed missed, and the receiving Saffer got bundled into touch. Most passes delivered by a running player travel forward from the point of release - you have to take account of momentum. Anyway, chaos at the breakdown. Neither of these teams is winning the RWC.

They play that at the paralympics. Sure you're at the right tournament?

[2015 RWC] Pool D: France vs. Ireland (11/10/2015)

Arg worry me, because they screwed us in 99 and 07. Both times I assumed we were better, but they had the same quality of player and outsmarted us. Don't expect that this time, but yellow card rage will give them the chuckles.

[2015 RWC] Pool D: France vs. Ireland (11/10/2015)

Best side possible against Arg may be without players who want to be carded. I am full of BS, but Schmidt ain't stupid.

[2015 RWC] Pool D: France vs. Ireland (11/10/2015)

I really want to see PSA getting the shirt ripped off his back by the fans! France's performance against England in 6N 2015 was a disgrace to rugby, and their one-note effort for 30 mins against Ireland today has to be the end of les nouvels Anglo-Saxons. Maybe a players' revolt will stick it...

[2015 RWC] Pool D: France vs. Ireland (11/10/2015)

POC was obvious the moment it happened - didn't need a replay even as the camera moved away. Reports of Sexton's groin were a bit odd, as he had no problem walking off. One of Ireland's replacements complained later of a head blow, but got real chipper when Nigel strolled up: "What's my name?"...

Why the shock of England exit?

There was a good long post on the Fiji-England thread that pointed out the Eng problems and said too late to fix. Not a prediction, but I think the earth was trembling already.
