    The Stormers Thread

Not great news for us. SFM out until EoYT with knee op, meaning he will miss our first 5 games of the season. Those being: Ospreys (A), Zebre (A), Edinburgh (A), Munster (H), Glasgow (H) 3/5 from those won't be too bad, but I'm relying on us getting those first two as wins away from home, where...

    Club Kits

New Stormers home and away kits. Home kit has the names of current and former Stormers players all over it. Overall I think it’s a slight improvement for the home kit vs last year as I prefer our white hoops being solid like this vs the dna kit which had them fade out on the sides. Away kit...

    [2024 TRC] Argentina v Australia - 07/9/2024

Such a contrast to last weekend. This is the same high intensity fast paced and physical team that we haven’t seen since the NZ win. They truly are the 2000’s era France of our generation. Just been so deadly with the offloads. SA vs Arg should be entertaining if this version of the team...

    [2024 TRC] South Africa v New Zealand - 07/9/2024

I think most of his errors he immediately made up for or it worked out for us: - weird backward kick pass? Penalty for in front of charge down - chip over the top in midfield that they receive? Immediately works the jackal and gets us a penalty. Key thing that was down today was his penalty...

    [2024 TRC] South Africa v New Zealand - 07/9/2024

Gotta keep in mind what he inherited though. The year before we lost to Italy. We were in a terrible way, which provides for a bit of leeway, but yea he came close to going if he didn’t win that NZ game

    [2024 TRC] South Africa v New Zealand - 07/9/2024

Libbok was playing for WP this last weekend (as was Kitshoff), I don't know if he is fully in the camp right now to be honest. No complaints about the team, BJD likely rotated out due to the poor performance last weekend.

    [2024 TRC] South Africa v New Zealand - 07/9/2024

Aren't we all? Brace is the worst referee in terms of error rate and missing things that we have in the URC. I don't understand how he gets big international games and someone like Hollie Davidson gets SA vs Portugal.

    [2024 TRC] Argentina v Australia - 31/8/2024

Just an FYI that both these games are in Argentina, so should be in a good position to get the second game win

    [2024 TRC] Argentina v Australia - 31/8/2024

What on Earth was that? Clear tackle in the air and then head contact on the player coming down… for both games this weekend did they just assign no TMOs?

Three vice captains? Has this been happening all season or first time they’ve put three up for BC?

    [2024 TRC] South Africa v New Zealand - 31/8/2024

I'm excited about essentially having two PSDTs in the team (For those unaware, BJD is the same mould as PSDT with the same high workrate/intensity). Obviously our six (?) lock injuries are having an impact here by us not having a lock on the bench and slotting PSDT into the line-up, but overall...

[2024 TRC] Australia vs South Africa - 17/08/24

You post here often. You would know that @TRF_stormer2010 doesn’t post like that, or have that approach. You’ve just responded with a generic SA stereotype after doing the same thing you are accusing him of. Generally there were a fair few things just let go, but wouldn’t say there was bias in it.

[2024 TRC] Australia vs South Africa - 17/08/24

He shouldn’t have argued that, but the second Aus defender dove in from an offside position and grabbed PSDTs arm while diving/on the ground, resulting in that forward pass. Should’ve been contesting that tbh.

[2024 TRC] Australia vs South Africa - 17/08/24

Lol that’s really funny. They muted the crowd audio for the SA national anthem but then put it back on for the Aus anthem (you could hear a change in the cheering after the anthem). Seem a bit embarrassed by the SA turn up.

[2024 TRC] New Zealand vs Argentina - 17/08/24

Great performance by NZ. Horrendous performance by Argentina. Three things they are doing terribly: One is pure securing of the ball at the breakdown (and generally the scrumhalf making poor decisions). Two is the scrums, almost a guaranteed penalty for NZ. Third and I think crucially...

    2024/25 Pool Draws

This ends up being ideal for South Africans based in the UK like me. But I can definitely see the frustration as an English fan. Having your two leagues broken up between two providers is incredibly frustrating - I've felt the pain of this before and would actively go to pubs for Champions Cup...

[2024 TRC] New Zealand vs Argentina - 10/08/24

Seen a lot of talk on this. Combination wildly expensive tickets, Wellington getting two NZ tests (with this one being the less appealling of the two) and a general perception of a poor game day experience for supporters (latter is more of a minor point, but ties in quite strongly with the first...

[2024 TRC] Australia vs South Africa - 17/08/24

Mmm, I honestly don't mind it tbh. If we are really going to see who can step up and be able to perform on the global stage we need to test players and bring them through the systems at the start of a World Cup cycle. Our other players in the squad have a significant lean to be over 32/33 years...
