England v Fiji - 8/11/2025

You had the ball, you dropped it.

Advantage gives you the bite of the apple you should have had, not two bites of the apple

No, it specifically doesn't. If you make a mistake under advantage, you go back for the penalty. 2 bites.

I think the ref called it too soon and we should have gone back.

You can disagree (and it seems everyone does) but I stand by my position.

Youll see it as a fan, the CCS rip on the floor before the try was very kickable, Fiji would have gone into the lead...

Both will get calls, but the big ones always go the big nations way this weekend, NZs try against Scotland was allowed, the exact same break was penalised against Japan.

Im not blaming England, theyre worthy of being ahead, Fiji back 3 cant take a high ball, thats killed them, but the trend of reffing is frustrating as a neutral

That does happen, but this match isn't an example of it.

You want a red to change his mind after telling everyone that advantage is over?

An advantage was gained. Why shouldn't it be advantage over?

LOL no.

Just to keep advantage going until it's gone beyond where a line-out would reasonably be formed from a penalty kick.

Otherwise it's not an advantage.

Overall, scoreline probably flattered England in the end, but as they said in the commentary, Fiji have been good prep for NZ who didn’t look particularly spectacular earlier this afternoon.

Quietly impressed by Coles. Arguably his best England performance IMO.

Was squeaky bum at times, that disallowed try was a huge swing. Fiji had a great 60 but then just couldn't sustain it and the socre line flattered England to be brutally honest.

It was a pretty exciting England team on paper didnt quite click.

Sooo many mistakes today, if we can build our style of play under Blackett and cut out these issues we can really build and overtake the likes pf Ireland and NZ to be in the top 3 or 4 in the world. We have so much potential but 5th or 6th in the world is where we are IMO.

Our depth is insane. Somehow 12 is still an issue.

But that's what happened - and that you're complaining about

I disagree.

(Which is what you're complaining about.)

The line-out would have been further up the pitch than where England lost the ball, in my opinion. Thus, the referee called the advantage over too soon.

I feel that referees give too long an advantage for knock-ons (possession is advantage) and too short for penalties in midfield (it may be different in the 22.) I felt this was a good example. You're entitled to think differently.

Decent win, bomb squad helped massively. Arundell was very quick indeed, Pepper was good again.

Defence still, er, needs a little work. Sometimes players seem to switch off, based on preconceptions of what will happen.

Fiji are fun to watch.
