Edit: This is a good point.

You have imagine a play without LCD there when they commit a penalty not what he could of diffrent. With no other defender its a walk in.

In what way?
LCD was infield from the winger, and easily reached the ball.
To say a try wouldn't have been scored, you're essentially saying you don't think the winger, in perfect position, wouldn't have caught the ball under no pressure at all.

You take off a player you would withdraw anyway, then sub out the replacement hooker later.
